Brand New Shop! Brand New Collection - S/S 2010

Today I released the six (6) NEW outfits pictured above from my new collection - MonoChrome - in myNEW location at Liberty. There will be at least (4) more new releases in the coming weeks. I am very proud of this new collection as I worked very hard on it, junking quite a few pieces and redoing them over and over.Even learned a few new skills in the process! The entire collection was hand drawn, designed and textured by yours truly.MonoChrome is designed so all pieces in the collection can be worn with any other pieces in the collection making for a multitude of possibilites when it comes to mixing and matching.  I hope you enjoy them!!

Special thanks to my long time friend, Mo Miasma, for getting me set up at her place and who has always been there for me and I truly feel honored to know a wonderful lady like her. While at Liberty, make sure you check out all the fantastic shops.

Waaay back in 2007 when I was doing my video Second Life Fashion/Lifestyle magazine - ScarlettCast! -
(I will return to producing once I get some of these projects off my plate) I did a little promo piece for Mo's furnishings boutique, Morantique.I fell in love with the shop and with her creations. You even get to hear in Mo's own voice matched to her avatar's speaking talking about her shop! I've come a long way with Machinima production values since 2007-LOL! Well you gotta start somewhere! If you have any questions, give me a shout.Enjoy and happy shopping!

Congrats To Miss Elle - Winner of the Frenzoo Fashion Contest!

I recently had the pleasure of judging a fashion and skin contest at Frenzoo and had the difficult task of selecting just one of the entrants as the winner.  Ultimately I awarded the first place crown to Miss Elle!
Her winning ad is below and will be featured on Frenzoo.com as well as a feature article in Frenzy Magazine.

My review of  Elle's entry:
This fitted dress has great detail on the texture with the creases in the dress and seams giving it a very realistic look. The shoulder accents in the shiny textured multi colored silver gives the dress just the right amount of added detail without taking away attention from the actual dress. Accessories are kept to a minimum letting the outfit shine. Simple silver earrings and black pumps are just the right choice. I love the glossy silvery plum of the lips on the skin as well as the highlighting on the eyes, long lashes and warming up of the skin with just the right amount of blush. This AV is definitely giving a Rhianna vibe!

After her win, Elle was kind enough to share with me her thoughts on virtual worlds fashion and her inspirations.  :-)

1. How did you come to Frenzoo and what made you decided to create content and open a shop?

I heard about Frenzoo through a fashion community forum. I liked the idea of a virtual fashion community where you have the ability to create content directly on the site. After playing around with the creator tools for a few weeks I applied for VIP to open my own shop.

2. Describe the style of your clothing line and how you decided to make your line in that particular style.

I tend to find influences from street style, the current 80s revival, musicians, and whatever contest theme is currently running. I’m a bit all over the place.
3. What would you like to see in the future in terms of being able to create content?

Hmm, that's a good question! I would love to have graphic editing included into the create tool. This way I wouldn't have to export anything if I want to work with Photoshop. So far I think Frenzoo has done a good job. They’re constantly and consistently finding ways to improve to make it better.

4. Why did you pick this outfit to enter in the contest?

Actually this was a backup outfit! The original outfit I had created was taking way too long to complete and so I scraped it to meet the deadline. But I just wanted to create something with clean lines and embellishment. I couldn't find (or create) a dress mesh with structured shoulders so I tried to create that illusion with the sparkly disco-ball details.
5. What advice would you give to someone who wants to get started in creating content?

Just have fun with it and make it your own. I've seen some items that look like knock-offs from popular creators, it’s great to draw inspiration from them but better to put your own personality into it.  I mean if you’re really into creating and/or fashion. I would suggest looking at outside sources for ideas. Asking question to other experienced creators for help and using Google never hurts too!

I remember when I first started creating, I was on a quest trying to figure out what was the best way to make virtual leather. Using a leather image or painting them??  I would message back and forth to a couple creators on the site until I was satisfied with the end result! (and it was a good way for me to make friends here ^_^)

Big thanks to Miss Elle for her time and input and look for her fashion machinima commerical of her store to be published soon!

The Niven Collection - S/S 2010 Preview - Kaleidoscope Dress

I've placed a new "preview" dress-Kaleidoscope- in my shop .  It is on the right as you walk in.  With all of the snowstorms we have been getting slammed with here, I've finally had the time to play with my Wacom Bamboo Fun Tablet.  After a couple of hours my hand started to adjust to using a pen tool and gesture navigation on the pad and I'm having great fun with it.  I plan to debut two additional outfits in the S/S 10 collection at the Crazy Horse Show on Rodeo Drive (more information to come) which is currently scheduled for April 9th and the rest of the collection soon there after. I've also included my first hand drawn necklace in the box (not shown) which can be worn with the dress or with another outfit on the jacket layer.  Enjoy!!

Shop Virtually And Try On Items Via Webcam?

Augmented reality (AR) is a term for a live direct or indirect view of a physical real-world environment whose elements are merged with or augmented by virtual computer-generated imagery - creating a mixed reality. The augmentation is conventionally in real-time and in semantic context with environmental elements, like for example sports scores on TV during a match. With the help of advanced AR technology (e.g. adding computer vision and object recognition) the information about the surrounding real world of the user becomes interactive and digitally usable. Artificial information about the environment and the objects in it can be stored and retrieved as an information layer on top of the real world view. Looks pretty interesting, yet kind of still in infancy stages. Will definitely keep eyes open on how this evolves over the years.

Feeling Sort Of Drowsy

Digital Image @ Feeling Sort Of Drowsy As I was preparing for my post I nostalgically tried on several items from some of my favorite shops that are no longer around. I've been in Second Life 3 1/2 years now, having this fashion blog for 3, and much has changed since the first time I logged in full of wide eye wonder and possibilities. My first goal, of course, was to shop as it was an article on virtual shopping that bought me here in the first place. I remember being pissed and thinking I was somehow cheated of my item when I rezzed that first box on my head.LOL! As the fashion blogs become more and more of who can get it the fastest, snap photos the quickest and get it published immediately, I would like to revisit some of the old favorites of mine along with a few new ones. The Natalie dress from Last Call has always been one of my favorites. I imagined it in a heavy Lycra, which would hang perfect with no wrinkling no matter how much you sat on it. I've used the top from that dress, which has intricate tiny silver sequin detailing around the neck, lightening the mood with Nylon's hand drawn fabric necklace colored to silver and a back draping triple strand pearl necklace that adds a contrasting look from back to front. I've paired it with the paper bag waist white skirt from DeLa that has a contrasting black tie sash. A simple textured silver cuff from The Niven Collection's Wonton jewelry set compliments without being overwhelming. Finally, the Yuja ll shoes from Enkythings in silver/black, along with the lovely side swept, full hair "Is" hair from Magika in blonde A finished the look with polished, yet uncomplicated flair. Thanks to Naxos Loon for giving me the landmark to check out! It was good to see you again after so long!
